Colour code
The birds of this project have a colour ring with a 4 character inscription spread over 2 lines on one lower leg and a coloured ring without inscription on the other lower leg.
The color code consists of the descriptions of the inscription ring and the unengraved ring separated by a slash ("/"):
colour ring (3 elements)
- The letter indicating the colour of the ring (1 letter)
- a hyphen ("-")
- the inscription (always 4 characters)
unengraved ring (1 letter)
- The letter of the colour
Example N-WNCC/O. This bird has a black ring with inscription WNCC (WN on the first line and CC on the second) on the left upper leg. On the right lower leg is an unengraved orange ring.
