Colour code

The birds in this project are ringed with two plain coloured rings on both lower legs and a plain flag in a varying position.

The colour code consists of 6 consecutive elements:

1. the letter of the colour of the flag (1 letter)
   2. the code for the position of the flag (1 digit)
   3. the colour of the upper ring around the left lower leg
   4. the colour of the lower ring around the left lower leg
   5. the colour of the upper ring around the right lower leg
   6. the colour of the lower ring around the right lower leg

Example Y5BYYY. This bird has a blue ring around its left lower leg and a yellow ring below it. There are two yellow rings around the right lower leg. There is a yellow flag on the left lower leg between the two coloured rings.

  • 5 = the flag is around the left lower leg, between both colour rings
