In Arnhem (since 1998) and Amsterdam (since 2008) Common Coots are ringed with metal rings in the context of the RAS-project. Since 2011 (Arnhem) and 2014 (Amsterdam and Zoetermeer) colour rings are used. The rings are orange with black inscription. The first letter is always an A, F, H, J or Z.
