Birds ringed as chicks in the island of Lesvos, in the eastern Aegean. Colour ring is on the right leg, metal ring on the left leg. Populations in the wider area are thought to be mainly sedentary but very little is known about their movements. Yellow-legged Gulls are often heavily dependent on human activities providing food resources. Some of these resources may be changing over time, especially with respect to changes in environmental legislation (refuse disposal, fishing regulations etc.). Observations of colour-ringed birds will help shed light on the current situation.
